Weekly Threads: July 17, 2014

You have been wearing that same navy suit lately, but not anymore. This week we wanted to introduce an outfit that inspires you to spruce up your suit game. Depending on your field of profession, a checkered or pinstriped suit is far from the normal. However, there is one important thing to point out. You are not normal. You are a Tailored Techie!

Start off with this grey and charcoal checkered suit from Etro. The wool fabric is not completely ideal for summer months, but if you are working in a cooler office you do not have anything to worry about. Just take the jacket off during your commute. In an effort to add some color, go with this burgundy polka-dot tie from Zegna. Mixing up patterns shows that you are not the average joe when it comes to menswear.

Since you added some color and introduced a new pattern with the tie, you will want to keep things simple with the pocket square. A plain white linen pocket square like this one from Banana Republic will do the trick. We usually do not add watches to our weekly threads, but this new chronograph from Mondaine is too nice to not include. The white dial with black leather band makes it perfect for the boardroom or backyard bonfire. To top things off (or in this case, bottom), take a step away from your normal brogues and give the new Cole Haan ZeroGrand’s a go. Crafted with a lightweight body, flexible outer soles, and no stitching, the ZeroGrand’s are a game-changer.
